A Papermark alternative when all you need is one tracked link
Papermark is an open-source document platform with data rooms, NDA gating and team seats. Link in Seconds is a plain file-to-link tool: upload a deck or proposal, share one clean link, see every open. If you run due diligence, Papermark is the better fit. If you send one document and want to know it was read, read on.

Is Link in Seconds a good Papermark alternative?
For one document, yes. Upload a PDF, get a clean link that opens in any browser with no account for the reader, and watch the view count for free. Pro at $9/month adds page-by-page time, device and country breakdowns, an email gate, a password, an expiry date, a view limit, a watermark and a notification on every open. For data rooms, NDA click-through, team seats or self-hosting, Papermark is the right tool and this is not.
A view count on every link, free
Every link shows how many times it was opened, from the first upload, with no trial clock and no card. Pro adds page-by-page time, device and country, and a notification the moment someone opens it.
Email gate, password, expiry date, view limit, view-only mode, watermark, custom slug and custom domain all sit on Pro at $9/month or $49/year. No per-seat tiers to climb for one feature.
Sent v3 of the deck and found a typo? Upload v4 to the same link. The URL, the QR code and the view history stay. Replacing a file is free on every plan; Pro keeps the old versions so you can restore one.
Images, video, audio, spreadsheets and ZIPs get the same link and the same counter. An album holds a deck, a demo video and the one-pager together, and every link comes with a downloadable QR code.
No data rooms and no NDA gate. Papermark's Data Rooms plans give you permissioned folders, one-click NDA acceptance and audit logs for M&A or a fundraise. Link in Seconds shares one file or one album per link, nothing more.
Open source and self-hostable. Papermark publishes its code and can run on your own servers, which matters if your policy says documents never leave your infrastructure. Link in Seconds is a hosted service only.
Team seats. Papermark's Business and Data Rooms plans add members with shared documents and reporting. Link in Seconds is one account per person; a team shares by passing links around.
Page-by-page analytics on the free plan. Papermark's Free tier lists page-by-page analytics on up to 50 documents and 50 links (checked 5 Oct 2026 on papermark.com/pricing). Here the free plan counts opens; page-level time is a Pro feature.
How it works
1
Upload the PDF
Drop the deck, proposal or contract onto the card above and sign in with Google. One tap, no form and no card. You get a short link straight away.
2
Set the controls you need
In link settings, turn on view-only, add a password, an expiry date, a view limit or an email gate on Pro. Pick a custom slug or your own domain if the link will be printed or pasted into a signature.
3
Send it and watch the opens
Paste the link into your email. The counter updates on every open; Pro shows time per page, device and country, and sends a notification the moment it is read. Replace the file later and the same link serves the new version.
What Papermark is built for
Papermark describes itself as a secure virtual data room and document-sharing platform for M&A, fundraising and due diligence, and it is open source. You upload documents, send links, and see page-by-page analytics. Around that sit permissioned data rooms, one-click NDA gating, dynamic watermarks with the viewer's email and IP, screenshot protection, audit logs, custom domains and team members. If those words describe your week, Papermark is a serious product and you should use it. Most people who search for a Papermark alternative are not running a data room; they want to send one PDF and know it was opened.
Pricing, side by side
Checked on 5 Oct 2026 on papermark.com/pricing: Papermark's Free plan covers 50 documents and 50 links with page-by-page analytics for one member. Pro is €29/month, or €24/month billed yearly. Business, which adds a custom domain for documents and three members, is €79/month or €59 yearly. Data rooms, NDA agreements and dynamic watermarks start on the Data Rooms plan at €149/month or €99 yearly. Link in Seconds has one paid plan: Pro at $9/month or $49/year, or Lifetime at $99 once, and it includes the custom domain, watermark, email gate and page-level analytics. The free plan keeps 20 live links at a time, each up to 100 MB, and they never expire.
Tracking, compared honestly
Both tools answer the question that matters: was my document opened, and how far did they read? Papermark records page-by-page analytics on every plan and can tie a visit to a person through email verification. Link in Seconds counts opens on every plan, and Pro adds time per page, device and country breakdowns, a CSV export of viewers, and an email gate so a visit carries a name. One honest caveat: viewers are matched by a hashed IP, so two people on the same office Wi-Fi can appear as one. If you need forensic-grade per-viewer logs for a legal process, Papermark's audit log is built for that.
Access controls, compared
Papermark gates a link with a password, an email requirement, an expiry, an allow-list of domains, and on data-room plans an NDA the viewer must accept. Link in Seconds Pro covers the everyday set: a password, an email gate, an expiry date, a view limit that closes the link after N opens, view-only mode that hides the download button, and a watermark on PDF previews. There is no NDA click-through and no domain allow-list here. On both products, view-only is a courtesy gate rather than copy protection; nothing stops a screenshot.
Beyond the PDF
A fundraise or a sales cycle rarely stops at one document. Link in Seconds gives the same tracked link to a demo video that streams with seeking, a product image, an audio file, a spreadsheet rendered as a grid, or a ZIP. An album holds the deck, the demo and the one-pager behind one URL with one view counter and a single ZIP download. Every link and album also has a downloadable QR code for a printed leave-behind or a booth banner. Papermark is built around documents and data rooms; if your material is mixed, that difference matters more than any analytics table.
Which one should you pick?
Pick Papermark if you need a data room, an NDA gate, several team members, self-hosting, or page-by-page analytics without paying. Pick Link in Seconds if you send one deck, proposal, resume or contract at a time, want a link that opens in any browser with no account, and want the controls that matter on one flat plan. The two are not enemies: plenty of founders keep a data room for diligence and use a plain tracked link for the first cold email.
Set an end date or a view cap and the link stops on its own. Send a quote that expires Friday, or a preview that closes after five opens, without remembering to delete it.
Send the first deck as one link and see which investors opened it before anyone asks for diligence.
Freelancers & agencies
Proposals and scopes as one tracked link, with a follow-up the moment the client opens it.
Sales & partnerships
Quotes and contracts behind a password and an expiry date, with an email gate so each open has a name.
Consultants & job seekers
A resume or a one-pager as a clean link that never expires, with a counter that tells you who actually looked.
What people say
In their words
“The admin interface is incredibly intuitive and set up exactly how a user actually thinks. My students all said it was easy to use and worked perfectly.”
JJasonTeacher · shares class materials
“The app is genuinely nice and easy to handle. I keep all my different app links in one place, my App Store and Play Store screenshots, and I organise my images and PDFs into albums with tags. The big storage means everything just lives here.”
EEvelynApp developer
“I handle contracts, invoices and legal files for several different organisations, so almost everything I send is password protected. Link in Seconds makes that simple, and I run my portfolio on a custom domain. It is easy to use and genuinely affordable.”
It depends on the job. Papermark's own free plan is generous for documents and includes page-by-page analytics. If you want a simpler tool that also takes images, video and albums, Link in Seconds starts free with a view counter on every link and no expiry, and the advanced controls sit on one flat Pro plan.
No. There are no data rooms, no NDA click-through and no per-folder permissions. An album can bundle several files behind one link with one password, which covers a small diligence pack, but a real data room is Papermark's job.
On Pro, turn on the email gate: the reader enters an email before the file opens, and that email shows next to their visits, time per page, device and country. Without the gate you see counts and breakdowns but no names. Viewers are matched by a hashed IP, so people on the same office network can merge into one.
Yes. Papermark publishes its code and says it can be self-hosted, and its enterprise tier mentions self-hosting. Link in Seconds is a hosted service only; if your policy requires documents to stay on your own servers, Papermark is the better fit.
Yes, on Pro: point a subdomain at Link in Seconds and your links open under your name, with your logo and accent colour on the page. On Papermark a custom domain for documents starts on the Business plan (checked 5 Oct 2026 on papermark.com/pricing).
Yes, and it is free on every plan. Open the link's settings, replace the file, and the same URL, QR code and view history carry on with the new version. Pro keeps the previous versions so you can restore one.
On 5 Oct 2026 Papermark's pricing page listed Pro at €29 per month, or €24 per month billed yearly, for one member. Our current Pro and Lifetime prices are on the pricing strip on this page and on the pricing page; the Lifetime plan is a one-time payment.
