Why these run on your device, not ours

Most online PDF tools upload your document to a server, change it there, and promise to delete it in an hour. That is a reasonable promise and it is still a promise: your contract, payslip or ID scan left your device to a company you have no relationship with.

These tools do the work in the browser tab instead, so there is nothing to promise. The honest trade-off is the size limit: your phone has less memory than a server, so jobs are capped around 40 MB. For anything larger, split it first.

Are these PDF tools really free?

Yes, and there is no sign-up, no watermark on the output and no daily task limit. The tools run on your own device, so they cost us nothing to offer, which is why there is no catch to explain.

Do my files get uploaded to your server?

No. Every tool on this page runs in your browser using JavaScript. The file is read from your disk into the tab's memory, changed there, and handed back to you. It is never sent over the network, so there is no copy of it on our servers to delete.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes, about 40 MB per job. Because the work happens on your own device rather than a server, a very large PDF would use more memory than a phone browser allows and the tab would be closed by the operating system. We stop with a clear message before that happens instead.

Do these work on a phone?

Yes. Every tool is built mobile-first with tap-sized controls, and none of them needs drag-and-drop. The only practical difference on a phone is that memory is tighter, so very large documents are more likely to hit the size limit.

Can I share the result after using a tool?

Yes, and that is the part most PDF tools miss. After any tool finishes, you can turn the result into a clean public link with a QR code in one more tap, so you can send it to someone instead of emailing an attachment.

How much smaller will Compress PDF make my file?

It depends almost entirely on what is inside. A scan or image-heavy PDF can shrink 60-90% with the Strong mode, because its weight is images, the one thing a browser can re-encode. A text PDF barely moves: the lossless Keep quality mode claws back maybe 0-15%, and Strong can even make it larger by redrawing crisp text as a picture. If you can select the text with your cursor, there is little to compress, and sending it as a link is the better fix.
