How to share a Claude artifact as a link (and see who opened it)
Share a Claude artifact as a link
To share a Claude artifact as a link, you have two options. Click Publish on the artifact in Claude and copy the public claude.ai link. Or download the artifact as one HTML file and upload it to Link in Seconds, which gives you your own link that opens as the live page, with a view count, an optional password, an expiry date and a QR code. The first is quickest. The second is for when you need to know someone opened it, or control who can.

Option 1: Claude's Publish button
Open the artifact, click Publish, and Claude makes a public link you can copy. Anyone with the link can view the artifact on claude.ai. It takes seconds and needs nothing else. On Team and Enterprise plans the sharing option may keep the artifact inside your organization, so check that a person outside it can open the link before you send it to a client.
What you don't get is a view count, a password, an expiry date or a link name of your own. If those matter, use option 2.
Option 2: your own link with views, password and QR
- 1
Get the artifact as one HTML file
In the artifact's menu, download it. If it comes out as a .html file, you're done. If it comes out as .jsx or .tsx (a React artifact), ask Claude: "Rewrite this as one self-contained HTML file. Load React from a CDN and put all CSS and JavaScript inline." Then download that. - 2
Open it on your own computer first
Double-click the .html file. If it looks right in your browser, it will look right as a link. - 3
Upload it to Link in Seconds
Drop the file into the uploader with a free account. It opens as the live page, not as code. - 4
Copy the link and share it
You get a short link and a QR code. Add a password, an expiry date or a custom name in Link settings if you want them. - 5
Watch the views, update in place
The link's analytics show views, unique visitors, time on page and scroll depth. Changed the artifact? Replace the file and the same link shows the new version.
Publish vs your own link
| Claude's Publish | Link in Seconds | |
|---|---|---|
| Steps | One click | Download, upload, copy |
| Where it lives | claude.ai | Your own short link |
| View count and time on page | No | Yes, free |
| Password, expiry, view limit | No | Yes, free |
| QR code | No | Yes, free |
| Update it later | Re-publish from Claude | Replace the file, same link |
| Artifacts that call Claude | Work, inside Claude | Don't work |
What works outside Claude, and what doesn't
An uploaded artifact runs in a sandboxed frame. Scripts, CDN libraries, charts, forms that post to an external service, alerts and pop-ups all work. What the sandbox holds back is same-origin access, so the page can't use cookies, localStorage or sessionStorage. That is what keeps every visitor safe from a hostile upload.
| In your artifact | Works as a link? |
|---|---|
| HTML, CSS and JavaScript in one file | Yes |
| React, Chart.js or Tailwind loaded from a CDN | Yes |
| Charts, calculators, quizzes, games | Yes |
| A form that posts to Formspree or Google Forms | Yes |
| Calls to Claude from inside the artifact | No, those only run in Claude |
| Claude's artifact storage, localStorage | No, sandboxed |
| Separate files like styles.css or images/ | No, use a ZIP site |
Common cases
A dashboard or report for a client
Send the link instead of a screenshot. The view count tells you when they opened it, and an expiry date stops an old version from circulating. If the numbers change, replace the file and the client's link stays the same.
A prototype or landing page mock-up
Share it with a password while it's a draft, then remove the password when it's ready. Print the QR code on a slide to let a room open it on their phones.
An app with several pages
If Claude built you a multi-file project, zip the folder and publish it as a static site with its own subdomain. A site loads files only from its own ZIP, so bundle any libraries and fonts instead of loading them from a CDN. Website hosting is a Pro feature, with 10 sites on Pro and 25 on Lifetime. Publishing straight from Claude Code
In Claude Code you can skip the download. Connect our MCP server and ask Claude to publish the file; it uploads it and hands you the link in the chat. Setup takes one command, see let Claude publish files as links.
Quick answers
How do I share a Claude artifact publicly?
Use the Publish button on the artifact in Claude to get a public link on claude.ai. If you want your own link with a view count, a password, an expiry date or a QR code, download the artifact as one HTML file and upload it to a host such as Link in Seconds, which opens it as a live page for anyone.
Can I see who opened my Claude artifact?
Not from Claude's own publish link. Upload the artifact's HTML to Link in Seconds and the link's analytics show how many people opened it, unique visitors, how long they stayed, how far they scrolled and their device, on every plan including Free.
Why doesn't my downloaded Claude artifact open?
React artifacts download as .jsx or .tsx code, which a browser can't run on its own. Ask Claude to rewrite it as one self-contained HTML file with React loaded from a CDN and everything inline, then download and upload that file.
Can I password-protect a Claude artifact link?
Yes, once it's an HTML file on Link in Seconds. Set a password in the link's settings and visitors must enter it before the page loads. Expiry dates and view limits are free too.
Is it free to host a Claude artifact?
Yes. A single HTML file is a normal upload on every plan, up to 250 MB on Free, and the link never expires. Multi-file websites published from a ZIP are a Pro feature.
Will an artifact that uses Claude inside it still work?
No. Artifacts that call Claude, or that save data with Claude's artifact storage, only work inside Claude. Outside it, the page loads but those parts stop. Static pages, charts, calculators, games and forms that post to an external service keep working.
