Best MCP servers for sharing and hosting files (2026)
MCP servers that give you a link
The best MCP server for sharing files depends on whether you want a public link or just storage. Most file MCP servers, like the reference filesystem server, Google's Drive server and Cloudflare's bindings server, let an AI read and write files in places only you can reach. Netlify and Vercel have MCP servers that deploy whole sites to a web address. Link in Seconds has an MCP server that uploads one file and hands back a link anyone can open.
At a glance
- Local files
- Filesystem reference server, no public link
- Cloud storage
- Google Drive, Cloudflare, AWS servers, private by default
- Deploy a site
- Netlify and Vercel MCP servers
- One file, public link
- Link in Seconds MCP server
- Auth
- OAuth for most hosted servers, keys or local credentials for others
Which MCP servers are in this list?
Only servers published by the company that runs the service, or by the MCP project itself, and only what their own repositories and docs say. There are no scores here; they do different jobs.
| Server | What it does | Public link? | Auth | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Filesystem (MCP reference) | Read, write, move and search files in folders you allow | No | None, runs on your computer | Letting an AI work on local files |
| Google Drive (Google, preview) | Search, read, create and copy Drive files | No, can't change sharing | OAuth via your Google Cloud project | Reading and filing docs in Drive |
| Cloudflare Workers Bindings | Manage R2 buckets, KV, D1 and Workers | No | Cloudflare OAuth | Running Cloudflare infrastructure |
| AWS API MCP server (awslabs) | Runs AWS CLI commands, including S3 | Only if you set it up that way | Your AWS profile and IAM permissions | AWS users who already script S3 |
| Netlify MCP server | Create projects and deploy sites | Yes, a site address | OAuth (hosted) or access token (local) | Deploying a whole site |
| Vercel MCP | Projects, deployments, docs; can deploy small projects | Yes, a deployment address | OAuth | Teams already on Vercel |
| Link in Seconds | Upload one file, list links, read analytics | Yes, opens in any browser | OAuth or API key header | Sharing a single file as a link |
Servers for storage, not sharing
Filesystem reference server
Part of the modelcontextprotocol/servers repository, it gives an assistant file operations on your own machine: read and write files, create and list folders, move files, search and read metadata. Access is limited to the folders you pass in when you start it. Useful, and private by design, so there is no link to give anyone.
Google Drive MCP server
Google runs a remote Drive MCP server, in Developer Preview at the time of writing. You enable the Drive API and the Drive MCP API in a Google Cloud project and connect with OAuth. Its tools include searching, reading, creating and copying files and reading a file's permissions. There is no tool in the published list that changes sharing, so files stay as private as they were.
Cloudflare Workers Bindings server
Cloudflare hosts several MCP servers. The bindings server signs in with Cloudflare OAuth and manages resources such as R2 buckets (list, create, inspect, delete), KV namespaces, D1 databases and Workers. Its listed tools work on buckets rather than the files inside them, and it doesn't make anything public.
AWS API MCP server
AWS Labs publishes many MCP servers. We found no general one just for S3 files (there is one for S3 Tables, a data analytics feature). The AWS API MCP server runs AWS CLI commands, including S3 ones, with the permissions of the AWS profile it starts with. Whether anything ends up public depends entirely on how your bucket and permissions are set, which is powerful but easy to get wrong.
Servers that put things on the web
Netlify MCP server
Netlify's official server lets an agent create projects and deploy them through Netlify's API and CLI. There is a hosted version and a local one started with npx @netlify/mcp; the local one can use a personal access token. You get a live site address, which is the right fit for a whole site.
Vercel MCP
Vercel's server at mcp.vercel.com uses OAuth and covers docs search, projects and deployments. Its deploy_to_vercel tool takes small projects sent as file contents and makes a preview or production deployment; Vercel's docs recommend the CLI or a Git repository for anything bigger. Note that connecting it gives the assistant the same access as your Vercel account.
Where Link in Seconds fits
Our MCP server does one job: publish a file and hand you the link. Ask your assistant to put a report, an HTML page or a PDF online and it replies with a lisview.com link that opens in any browser, no account needed to view. Setup guides are in the MCP docs.
- Six tools: upload_file, create_upload_url and finish_upload to publish, list_links, and get_link_analytics and get_account_analytics for views, visitors and countries.
- Sign-in: OAuth in ChatGPT and other OAuth clients, with no key to copy. Developer tools like Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code can send the header Authorization: Bearer lis_ plus your API key.
- Size: files up to 3 MB go inline. Bigger files, up to your plan's file limit (250 MB on Free), use a short-lived upload URL, which needs an assistant that can run commands.
- Same rules as the website: plan limits, type checks and the safety scan all apply. Free accounts can make 30 uploads an hour with a key.
- Can't break things: the tools can't change link settings or delete links. You set passwords and expiry dates in the dashboard.
How to choose
- The AI should work on files on your computer: filesystem server.
- The AI should find and read your documents: Google Drive server.
- You manage cloud infrastructure: Cloudflare or AWS servers.
- You want a whole site live from a chat: Netlify or Vercel.
- You want one file as a link you can send and track: Link in Seconds.

Quick answers
Which MCP server gives me a public link to a file?
Few do. Most storage MCP servers read and write files in a place only you can reach. Netlify's and Vercel's servers deploy sites with a web address, and Link in Seconds' server uploads a single file and returns a public link that opens in any browser.
Is there an official Google Drive MCP server?
Yes, in Developer Preview. Google's Drive MCP server lets an agent search, read, create and copy Drive files with OAuth. Its published tools can read a file's permissions, but none of them changes sharing, so it won't make a file public on its own.
Can the filesystem MCP server share files?
No. The reference filesystem server from the MCP project reads, writes, moves and searches files in folders you allow on your own computer. Nothing it does is reachable from the internet.
Does the Link in Seconds MCP server need an API key?
Not in ChatGPT, which signs in with OAuth. Other clients either sign in with OAuth too or send an API key in the Authorization header as Bearer lis_ followed by the key.
Can an AI agent delete my links through MCP?
Not through Link in Seconds. Its MCP tools can upload, list and read analytics, but can't change link settings or delete links. You do that in the dashboard, so a mistaken or tricked assistant can't break links you have already shared.
