Link in Seconds vs DocDroid, a document link you can share for free
DocDroid is a white-label document sharing service where sharing with other people needs a Pro subscription. Link in Seconds lets you share a PDF or Word file as a link on the free plan, with password, expiry and view analytics included. Here is an honest look at both.

Is there a DocDroid alternative that lets you share for free?
Yes. On Link in Seconds the free plan shares a PDF, Word or Excel file as a public link with 20 live links at a time and files up to 250 MB. Password, expiry date, view-only mode and view analytics are included on every plan. DocDroid's home page says that on its free account only you can view your uploads; sharing them needs its paid plan.
Upload, sign in with Google and the link is live for anyone you send it to. Free covers 20 live links at a time and files up to 250 MB; deleting a link frees its slot.
Password, expiry date, view-only (download off), view limit, email gate and a per-viewer watermark on the PDF preview are not paid extras here. They are on the free plan too.
Each link counts its views and shows device and country, sends you a notification when someone opens it, and comes with a QR code. No subscription needed to see the numbers.
Your brand, your domain
Hide our branding or add your own logo, and connect up to 5 of your own domains, on any plan. By default, shared links live on lisview.com, a short address made for sharing.
Where DocDroid goes further
No AI chat with the document. DocDroid's Pro plan has an Ask AI chat (in beta) where readers ask questions about the file; we have nothing like it.
Fewer office formats preview. PDF, Word (DOCX) and Excel open in the browser here; PowerPoint uploads show a download card, and ODT or RTF are not accepted. DocDroid lists PPTX, ODT, RTF and more.
Less page-level reading data. DocDroid's Pro analytics include time spent per page and clicks on outbound links; ours focus on views, devices, countries and who opened the link.

Competitor facts checked on 17 Oct 2026 on docdroid.com (docdroid.net redirects there): the home page, the pricing page and the API docs. Where DocDroid's public pages say nothing, we say so instead of guessing. Our numbers come from our plan page. Plans change, so confirm current pricing before you decide.
How it works
1
Upload the file
Drop a PDF, Word or Excel file into the uploader and sign in with Google. Free takes files up to 250 MB, Pro up to 500 MB. There is no page-count limit.
2
Set the controls you need
Add a password, an expiry date, a view limit or an email gate, or switch downloads off for view-only. All of it is included on the free plan.
3
Send the link and watch the views
Copy the lisview.com link or download the QR code. The reader opens the document in the browser with no account, and your dashboard shows each view with device and country.
The big difference: who can open the link
On 17 Oct 2026 DocDroid's upload page showed a "Restricted Demo Mode" notice: only you can view your uploaded documents, and sharing them with others needs a Pro subscription. That makes DocDroid a paid tool in practice, with a 3-day trial to test it. On Link in Seconds the free plan is a working plan, not a demo: sign in, upload a PDF or Word file up to 250 MB, and anyone with the link can open it in their browser without an account. You can keep 20 links live at a time and delete old ones to free a slot.
Privacy controls without a paywall
Both tools keep documents unlisted and let you add a password. DocDroid groups download blocking, embed restrictions and search-engine indexing under its Pro settings. Here, every link feature is free on every plan: password, expiry date, view-only mode, a view limit, an email gate that asks readers for their address first, and a per-viewer watermark on the PDF preview. Links are never indexed by search engines, so a private contract or price sheet stays off Google.
How the PDF opens for your reader
Both services show the document in the browser instead of forcing a download. On Link in Seconds a PDF opens in an in-browser reader built on pdf.js, sharp on phones and computers, with no app and no sign-in for the reader. Word files are laid out as pages and Excel files open as a sheet. Replace the file later and the link stays the same, so a link already sent by email or printed as a QR code always shows the latest version.
What DocDroid does better
DocDroid has an Ask AI chat (in beta) on Pro, so readers can ask the document questions instead of scrolling. Its Pro analytics go down to the page: time spent on each page and clicks on outbound links, which a sales or content team may want. It also previews more office formats, including PowerPoint, ODT and RTF, and its API allows 1,000 uploads per 24 hours on Pro. If those are what you need and the price fits, DocDroid is a reasonable choice.
Which one should you pick?
Pick DocDroid if you want readers to chat with the document, need page-by-page reading time, or share a lot of PowerPoint and ODT files, and you are happy to pay for Pro. Pick Link in Seconds if you want to share a PDF, Word or Excel file today without a subscription, with a password, an expiry date and a view count included. If you outgrow Free, Pro is $9/month or $49/year and raises the file limit to 500 MB.
Set an end date or a view cap and the link stops on its own. Send a quote that expires Friday, or a preview that closes after five opens, without remembering to delete it.
Send a proposal or contract as one link and see the moment the client opened it.
Small teams
Share manuals and policies behind a password, with your own logo and domain.
Researchers & students
Put a paper or thesis behind a clean link that opens on any phone, no account needed.
Sales & HR

What people say
In their words
“The admin interface is incredibly intuitive and set up exactly how a user actually thinks. My students all said it was easy to use and worked perfectly.”
JJasonTeacher · shares class materials
“The app is genuinely nice and easy to handle. I keep all my different app links in one place, my App Store and Play Store screenshots, and I organise my images and PDFs into albums with tags. The big storage means everything just lives here.”
EEvelynApp developer
“I handle contracts, invoices and legal files for several different organisations, so almost everything I send is password protected. Link in Seconds makes that simple, and I run my portfolio on a custom domain. It is easy to use and genuinely affordable.”

Every link feature is free. Pro adds room and website hosting.
When we checked on 17 Oct 2026, DocDroid's upload page said that without a Pro subscription only you can view your uploaded documents. Pro is listed at $19/month (plus VAT where it applies) with a 3-day free trial.
Yes. The free plan keeps 20 links live at a time with files up to 250 MB each, and anyone with the link can open it without an account. Pro is $9/month or $49/year for unlimited links and files up to 500 MB.
Yes. Password, expiry date, view-only mode, a view limit, an email gate and a per-viewer watermark are on every plan, including Free. Changing the password locks out anyone who unlocked the old one.
Not by default. A link stays live until you delete it or set an expiry date yourself. If you want one to stop working on a date, add the expiry in the link settings.
It opens in an in-browser reader built on pdf.js, on any phone or computer, with no app and no sign-in. You decide whether a download button is shown.
Yes, on any plan. You can hide our branding, add your own logo and connect up to 5 of your own domains. Without a custom domain, links are on lisview.com. DocDroid's Pro plan offers white label and a yourcompany.docdroid.com address.
PDF, Word (DOCX) and Excel open in the browser. Images, video, audio, text and ZIP files work too. PowerPoint files upload but show a download card instead of a preview, so export slides to PDF if you want them readable in the browser.
Yes. Replace the file and the link stays the same, so links in old emails and printed QR codes open the new version. DocDroid also keeps the link when you replace a document.
No. Readers see the document itself; there is no chat with the file. If letting readers ask the document questions is important to you, DocDroid's Pro plan has that feature in beta.
