Do you convert WebM to MP4?

No. We play the original WebM file as uploaded and do not re encode it, so what the viewer sees is exactly what you recorded.

Will it play on an iPhone?

On a current iPhone, most WebM files play in Safari. Older iOS versions have limited WebM support, so for viewers on older Apple devices, an MP4 copy is the safer choice.

How big can a WebM be?

Up to 100 MB per file on the free plan. WebM compresses well, so that covers long screen recordings. Pro raises the limits if you need more.

Built for the web

WebM usually carries VP8, VP9, or AV1 video with Opus or Vorbis audio, all open codecs designed for streaming. Browser based screen recorders often save straight to WebM, so a link is the natural way to share one of those captures.

Browser support, plainly

Chrome, Edge, and Firefox play WebM. Current Safari on Mac and iPhone plays most WebM files too, but older Apple devices may not. If a browser cannot play the file, the viewer sees a clear message instead of a black rectangle.
