Who the photos are really for

The guests were there; the people who most want these photos often were not. Grandparents overseas, a sister who could not get time off, the friend on bed rest herself. And the parents-to-be, who spent the afternoon opening gifts and have almost no pictures of their own. One link reaches all of them in the channel they already use, and opens on whatever device they have, from a new phone to an old tablet.

Private enough for the people involved

Pregnancy and baby photos are more personal than most party pictures, and different families draw the line in different places. An album link is unlisted and not indexed by search engines, but anyone who has it can open and forward it. So match the settings to what the parents asked for.

• Open link: fine for photos everyone is happy to have shared.
• Downloads off (any plan): people can look but there is no save button. A screenshot is still possible.
• Password (Pro): only people you give the password to can open the album.
• Disable (any plan): one switch takes it offline if the parents change their mind.

The QR code on the thank-you cards

Thank-you cards go out anyway, so let them carry the photos. Every album has a QR code you can download and print on the card or a small sticker. A guest points their phone camera at it and the album opens, no typing, no app. The view counter in your dashboard shows the album being opened as the cards arrive.

Photos, the reveal video and the games

The reveal moment is usually a video, and it should play rather than download. Videos in the album stream with seeking, so the grandparents can replay the confetti without waiting for a big file. You can add other bits alongside: a scan of the guest-book page with everyone's advice, or a PDF with the answers to the baby-food tasting game. Photos open full size; PDFs open in a viewer.

The gift table, for the thank-you notes

A practical one for the parents: take a photo of each gift with its card before the wrapping goes in the bin, and keep those in their own small album, just for the two of them. When it is time to write thank-you notes, the photo tells you who gave what. Keep that album unshared, or send the link only to the partner who is writing half the cards.

A separate album for the baby, later

When the baby arrives there will be a new wave of photos and a smaller, closer audience. Start a new album for that rather than adding to the shower album, so each link reaches the right people. Each album holds up to 500 MB, and every photo inside has its own link for the relative who only wants the one on the fridge.
