01 · Direct Send · peer to peer

# Share files directly from your device to anywhere

Send files of any size directly from your device without ever storing anything online.

- No file size limit

- Peer-to-peer

- Blazingly fast

- Encrypted, never stored

## How to send a file without uploading it

- 1 Pick your files Choose up to 50 files on this page. Nothing is uploaded; they stay on your device.

- 2 Share the link or QR code You get a short link and a QR code. Send the link, or let the other person scan the code.

- 3 Keep the tab open while they receive When they open the link, the files travel straight from your browser to theirs, encrypted, and download on their side.

02 · How to choose

## When to use this, and when not to

Use Direct Send when

- The file is too big for email or a normal upload cap.

- You're both at your devices right now, a call, a desk, a meeting.

- You'd rather the file never sat on anyone's server, including ours.

- You're moving something between your own phone and laptop.

Use a normal link when

- They'll open it later, or you don't know when.

- You want to send it to a group, or post it somewhere.

- You need view tracking, a password, or a QR that keeps working.

- You want the file to still be there next week.

**The one catch, stated plainly.** A direct connection needs both devices online at the same time, with both tabs open. A few networks, strict office firewalls, some VPNs, block direct connections entirely, and when that happens we'll tell you rather than spin. A normal upload link works everywhere.

## Direct Send questions

There is no size cap from us, because nothing is uploaded or stored. The practical limit is your connection and the free space on the receiving device.

No. Neither side needs an account, and it is free.

Yes. Files are encrypted with AES-GCM in your browser before they leave it, and the key comes from the code in the link, so only someone with the link can read them.

No. The files go browser to browser. Our server only helps the two devices find each other and never receives the file contents.

30 minutes. Both devices must be online at the same time with the page open; after that the link stops working and you can start a new one.

Up to 50 files in one transfer.

Some office firewalls and VPNs block direct connections between devices. If that happens, upload the file to a normal link instead; it works on every network and the other person can open it later.

Use a normal link when the other person will open it later, when you are sending to a group, or when you want view tracking, a password or a QR code that keeps working.
