## How do I make a QR code for an audio file?

Upload the audio file, or record a voice message in the uploader, and sign in to publish. Your link comes with a QR code you download as a PNG. Print it on a card, label or poster. A phone camera opens the link and the listener taps play in the browser, with no app and no account.

### Scan, tap play, listen

iPhone and Android cameras read QR codes on their own. The scan opens a player with the title, length, cover art or a waveform, speed control and 10-second skips. Phones do not start sound by themselves, so the listener taps play once.

### Change the audio, keep the print

The code holds your link, not the file. Replace the recording from your dashboard and every printed card plays the new version. Replacing is free on every plan.

[How replacing works](https://linkinseconds.com/docs/replace-a-file)

### See scans and how far people listened

Scans are counted apart from other opens, and every plan shows how far each visit played and how many reached the end. You learn whether the label on the wall gets heard or only scanned.

[QR codes, explained](https://linkinseconds.com/docs/qr-codes)

### What to know before you print an audio QR code

The code is a plain PNG. The QR window on your link gives a 512 pixel black and white PNG with the white border already around it. There is no colour styling or logo in the middle; dedicated QR tools do that better. Free covers audio files up to 250 MB; Pro and Lifetime raise it to 500 MB.

Pick the link name before you print. You can give the link a readable custom name, but the name is part of the address inside the code. Rename it after printing and the printed codes stop working.

A printed code is public by nature. Anyone who photographs the card can open the link. Add a password if the message is private, but remember the listener then has to type it on their phone.

## How to make a QR code for audio

- 1 ### Upload or record the audio Drop an MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, AAC or FLAC in the box above, or switch to Record and speak for up to 30 minutes. Sign in to publish.

- 2 ### Download the QR code When the link is ready, open its QR code and download the PNG. Set a custom link name first if you want one.

- 3 ### Print it and test it Place the code with a short line such as "Scan to listen", print one copy at the final size and scan it with a phone before the full run.

## What happens when someone scans an audio QR code?

A QR code is a picture of a web address. The camera reads it, shows a small banner, and one tap opens your link in Safari or Chrome. The page loads an audio player with the file's title and length, the cover picture from the file's tags or a waveform picture, a large play button, a seek bar, speed control and 10-second skips. Sound streams, so playback starts before the whole file arrives, and dragging to minute three does not fetch the first two minutes. Audio is light: speech saved as a 64 kbps MP3 is about 0.5 MB a minute, so a three-minute guide is around 1.5 MB and loads on a weak signal where a video would stall.

## Where does an audio QR code make sense?

Anywhere a printed surface needs a voice. The pattern is always the same: a short recording, a code sized for the distance, three words of instruction such as "Scan to listen", and a link you can refresh without touching the print.

- ·Greeting cards and gifts. A recorded birthday message, a song you made, a grandparent reading a bedtime story, on the inside of a card or a photo frame.

- ·Audio guides. A museum label, a garden trail, a walking tour stop or a property feature, each with a one to three minute explanation.

- ·Worksheets and books. A listening exercise, the pronunciation of new words, or a read-aloud page for a child who is learning to read.

- ·Music merch and flyers. A new song on a gig poster, a sticker or a CD sleeve, swapped for the next single without reprinting.

- ·Weddings and events. The speech, the first-dance song or a message from someone who could not come, on the table card or the order of service.

## Can one QR code play several tracks?

Yes. Pick several audio files at once and they become one album link with its own QR code. The tracks play in order and an Up next list sits under the player, so one code on a brochure can carry a whole tour or a five-song EP. For a trail where each stop has its own sign, give each stop its own link and code instead: then the analytics tell you which stops people actually listen to.

## How big should I print the code?

Make the code at least one tenth of the scanning distance. A card held in the hand needs about 2.5 to 3 cm; a sign read from two metres needs about 20 cm. Keep the white border, print dark on light, and prefer matte paper over gloss. Then test the real print with an older phone before you order a run.

## How is this different from an MP3 QR code generator?

Dedicated QR tools style the code with colours, frames and a logo, and some of them take only MP3 or WAV, with file caps of 5 to 20 MB depending on the plan (QR TIGER's MP3 page, checked 4 November 2026). Here the code is plain, but the audio side is the focus: six formats plus recording in the browser, files up to the plan limits above, a player with speed and skips, listen-only and password options, and play-through stats on every plan. If the look of the code matters most, use a QR tool; if the listening matters most, use this.

## Audio QR codes, answered

Upload the audio above, or record it with the Record option, and sign in to publish. Open the QR code on your new link and download the PNG. Print it, and a phone camera opens a page where the audio plays in the browser.

Yes. Switch the uploader to Record, allow the microphone, and speak for up to 30 minutes. You can listen back and trim the recording before you publish it. Nothing uploads until you choose to publish.

MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, AAC and FLAC. Free covers files up to 250 MB; Pro and Lifetime up to 500 MB. A spoken message saved as MP3 is about half a megabyte a minute, so size is rarely the problem.

No. Phone browsers do not play sound until the person taps, so the page opens with a large play button. One tap starts it.

Yes, free on every plan. Replace the file from your dashboard and every printed code plays the new recording. Do not rename the link after printing, because the name is part of the address inside the code.

Yes. Select several audio files together and they become one album link with its own QR code, a track list and next-track playback.

Every plan shows how many times the code was scanned, apart from other opens, and how far each visit played, including how many reached the end. Turn on notify-on-view to get an email when someone opens it. You see devices and countries, not names, unless you add the email gate.

No. Links do not expire on any plan, so a card kept in a drawer still plays years later. You can set an expiry date yourself if the message is only for one event.

Yes. Turn off downloads on any plan and the page only plays the audio. Anything that plays can still be recorded by the listener, so treat it as a deterrent, not protection.
