# Safety, scanning and reporting

How uploads are checked, why a link can be held for review, and how to report a link that breaks the rules.

Link in Seconds is used to share files with real people, so we check what gets uploaded and act on reports quickly. This page explains what happens to your upload, why a link can be held for review, and how to report a link that breaks the rules.

## Every upload is checked

### File type checks

Only file types on our allowlist can be uploaded. We do not trust the file name or the type your browser reports: we read the first bytes of the file itself and check they match what it claims to be. A file that is secretly something else is rejected.

Programs and scripts are always blocked, for example **.exe**, **.msi**, **.bat**, **.sh**, **.apk**, **.dmg**, **.jar**, **.dll** and **.php**. If you try one, you see “That file type isn't allowed for security reasons.” The full list is in [Supported file types](https://linkinseconds.com/docs/file-types).

### Automated content scanning

Uploads are scanned for harmful content when they are uploaded, and may be scanned again later. Scanning looks at things like images, video frames, text and any web addresses inside a file, and checks the file against lists of known malware. The [Privacy Policy](https://linkinseconds.com/privacy) names the safety providers we use and exactly what each one receives.

We never train AI on your files

Uploads are scanned only to keep the service safe. We do not use them to train, fine-tune or improve any model.

## When a link is held for review

If our systems flag an upload, it is held and not served to anyone until a person has looked at it. Scanning is careful but not perfect, so a held link does not mean you did anything wrong. Here is what you see:

| Status in your dashboard | What it means |

| Processing | We are still checking your video. It goes live automatically once that is done. |

| In review | Held for a quick safety check. It is not public until that clears. |

| Blocked | The link was blocked by moderation and is not served. |

Right after uploading, a held file shows **Uploaded, being reviewed** with the link it will have once it is approved. While a link is in review or blocked, anyone who opens it gets a page that is not found.

If we remove or restrict your content or account, we email you what we did, which rule it broke, whether automated detection was involved, and how to appeal. We do not send that email where the law forbids it.

## Report a link

Every public file page and album page has a **Report** button. You do not need an account.

- ### Click Report Open the link you want to report and click **Report** (it has a small flag icon). It is usually in the footer, or in the bar at the top of the page on a phone.

- ### Pick a reason Choose **Spam**, **Phishing / scam**, **Malware**, **Copyright issue**, **Illegal or harmful content** or **Something else**. Add any details that help, then click **Submit report**. You may be asked to complete a quick bot check.

A report sends the link to our moderation queue. It is not taken down automatically: a person reviews it and decides. We aim to review reports within one business day, and usually faster for clear cases like phishing and malware. To report several links at once, or something the button does not cover, see [Report Abuse](https://linkinseconds.com/abuse) for the email route.

What we store about a report

The reason, any details you add, your browser's user agent and a hashed form of your IP address. We do not store your raw IP address.

## What is not allowed

The [Acceptable Use Policy](https://linkinseconds.com/acceptable-use) lists what you must not share, including phishing, malware, scams, content that infringes someone else's rights, and any sexual content involving minors. Read it before you share anything you are unsure about.

## Bans

When we confirm a link breaks the rules, we disable it so it stops working for everyone. Where the same account is behind repeated or serious abuse, we can ban the account and block every link it has created, not just the reported one.

A suspended account sees an **Account suspended** page instead of the dashboard, and cannot upload. You can still manage or cancel a paid plan from that page, so you are never charged for an account you cannot use.

## Appeals and complaints

If you think we got it wrong, reply to the email we sent you within six months. A person reviews every appeal; appeals are never decided by automation alone. You can also raise it with our Grievance Officer, as described on the [Grievance Redressal](https://linkinseconds.com/grievance) page, which also explains further escalation.
