# Use Link in Seconds in ChatGPT

Add Link in Seconds to ChatGPT as a plugin, sign in once, and ask ChatGPT to turn files into shareable links and show their analytics.

Add Link in Seconds to ChatGPT once and you can ask it to **turn a file into a shareable link**, list your links or show how a link performed, right in the chat. You sign in with your Link in Seconds account. There is no API key to copy.

- ### Open Plugins in ChatGPT On chatgpt.com, click **Plugins** in the left sidebar. This is the main Plugins page, not the one inside Settings.

- ### Add a custom MCP server Click **Add** at the top right, then **Add custom MCP server**, and fill in the form: | Field | Value | | Name | `Link in Seconds` | | Description | Turn any file into a shareable link | | Connection | Server URL: `https://linkinseconds.com/api/mcp` | | Authentication | OAuth (leave the advanced OAuth settings as they are) | Tick **I understand and want to continue**, then click **Create as a plugin**. ChatGPT checks the server and finds six tools.

- ### Connect your account Click **Connect Link in Seconds**. A Link in Seconds page opens and asks you to sign in with Google if you aren't already. It shows that ChatGPT wants access and that you go back to `chatgpt.com` afterwards. Click **Allow**.

- ### Use it in a chat Start a new chat, type `@` and pick **Link in Seconds**, then ask for what you need: Text ``` Use Link in Seconds to create a link for this text as notes.txt ```

## What you can ask

- “Turn this summary into a text file and give me a link I can send.”

- “Build this as a one-page HTML file and publish it as a link.”

- “List my latest links.”

- “Show the analytics for my pricing.pdf link.”

- “How did my links do in the last 7 days?”

ChatGPT uploads files up to 3 MB straight from the chat, which covers text, Markdown, CSV, HTML pages and most images. For bigger files, upload them on the [website](https://linkinseconds.com/) and ask ChatGPT about the link afterwards.

## What ChatGPT can and can't do

| Can | Can't |

| Upload files and create links on your account | See your email or password |

| List your links | Delete links or change link settings |

| Read views, visitors, countries and devices for your links | Change your plan or billing |

Your plan's limits apply and every file is type-checked and scanned, exactly as on the website. Program files such as `.exe` are refused. Password, expiry and the other link settings are changed in the [dashboard](https://linkinseconds.com/dashboard).

## Disconnect

Open [Dashboard → API keys](https://linkinseconds.com/dashboard/api-keys) and click **Disconnect** next to ChatGPT under Connected apps. Access stops right away. You can also remove the plugin in ChatGPT under Plugins.

## If it doesn't work

| What you see | What to do |

| No Add custom MCP server option | Your ChatGPT plan or workspace may not allow custom plugins yet. Ask your workspace admin, or use the ChatGPT desktop app. |

| A plugin page with only Open in desktop app | That plugin was built as a desktop-only package. Add the server again with Add custom MCP server as above. |

| MCP server does not implement OAuth | A known intermittent ChatGPT error. Try again; nothing needs to change. |

| Link in Seconds doesn't appear after @ | Check it is installed under Plugins, then start a new chat. |

Using Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code?

Developer tools connect with an API key instead. See [MCP server](https://linkinseconds.com/docs/mcp) for those guides.
